Congratualtions to our winners!

May - The Sports Injury Clinic - Pippa Hanson and Michelle Blake

In July 2004 they purchased an old run down Californian bungalow, after a quick renovation (completely gutted inside) they opened a physiotherapy and allied health business in Frankston.  They started with 2 practitioners and 2 administration staff.  Within 12 months they had added on more treatment rooms, 2 studios and more staff. In October 2009 they opened their new premises (purpose built, next door to the old one) with over 25 practitioners and 15 administrative staff.  It has been 6 years of continued focus, marketing and networking along with building a culture based on openness, honesty and integrity.

April - International Medical Recruitment - Corrine Taylor

Established in 2001, International Medical Recruitment (IMR) has grown to become one of the industry leaders in the recruitment of both permanent and locum doctors to positions throughout Australia and New Zealand. The company's success has been driven by a distinct difference in the way in which we provide our services.  With both Directors coming from non-recruitment backgrounds, we have been able to develop our ethics based on the principles of customer service rather than recruitment itself. This approach has guaranteed quality assurance and has allowed the company to develop and grow through the needs of our stakeholders rather than financial gain alone.

IMR has achieved many milestones, both internally and externally, throughout its 9 year history. We were successful in obtaining Federal Government approval to recruit GPs and Consultants to areas in desperate need of services through their Strengthening Medicare scheme (SMIRS).

March - Graham Harris Mobile Paint - Graham Harris

This is an example of a senior member of our community, who having physical difficulties in his current profession, goes out and creates a new business using his old skills. Graham Harris is 65 and worked as a Panel Beater. He found that lying on the ground under a car was taking a toll on his body.  Graham noticed new buildings around town were being constructed out of Aluminium panels.  He started approaching the building sites and offering to repair any damaged panels.  This was cheaper for the builder than replacing them.  In a few years, he has built up a business that keeps him fully employed and which he will be able to do into his 70's!

February - Bayside Rock Climbing - Tibor Kassay

Bayside Rock is proudly owned, operated and staffed by the Tibor family - Experienced Rock Climbers. At an age when most people think of retiring Tibor(56) and his wife(54) decided to turn a passion into a business. Joined by their son James, an Australian State, National and International climbing champion, they built the newest and most versatile centre engineered to the latest Australian Safety Standards. The Tibor family can share their joy of rock climbing with the wider community and encourage all age groups to participate in a new form of fitness whilst having fun.
