Power of Choice: what's the story?

Power of Choice is the name given to a government-led program designed to help Australians make informed choices about the way they use electricity products and services.

A big part of helping people better understand their electricity use is increasing the prevalence of smart meters. So under Power of Choice, if a residential or small business customer needs to install a meter where there currently isn't one or replace their existing meter, a smart meter must be installed.

Power of Choice comes into effect from 1 December 2017.
