FAQs

Why is the 16c/kWh feed-in tariff ending?

South Australian electricity distributor, SA Power Networks, provided the 16c/kWh feed-in tariff to customers who received permission to connect solar generating units between 1 October 2011 and 30 September 2013. Momentum Energy credited the 16c/kWh to the retail electricity bills of eligible customers.

The requirement for SA Power Networks to provide this feed-in tariff ends on 30 September 2016.

Do I need to do anything?

No. As your electricity retailer, Momentum Energy will reflect the change in your electricity bill. You'll notice a change to the solar feed-in-tariff credits included in your bills from 1 October 2016 onwards.

What's Momentum's solar feed-in tariff (FiT) in South Australia?

Momentum provides eligible South Australian solar customers with the minimum retailer solar feed-in tariff, which is currently 6.8c/kWh for excess electricity that customers feed back into the power grid. Momentum will continue to provide the minimum retailer solar feed-in tariff from 1 October 2016.

Is there another feed-in tariff scheme available in South Australia?

Customers who met specific generator requirements before 1 October 2011 remain entitled to receive an additional feed-in tariff provided by SA Power Networks, but that additional feed-in tariff is not available to new solar customers or solar customers who will cease receiving the 16 c/kWh feed-in tariff.
