Momentum Energy ranked in the nation’s top three retailers in Greenpeace’s Green Electricity Guide

Momentum Energy has been awarded 4.5 stars out of five in the Green Electricity Guide released today by Greenpeace Australia, putting it in the number three spot nationally and at number two in Victoria and South Australia.

Greenpeace says its Green Electricity Guide is designed to make it easy for consumers to choose a “clean, green and responsible electricity provider”. The guide ranks 48 Australian energy retailers from best to worst in terms of green credentials, using criteria such as provision of and support for renewable energy, halting fossil fuel expansion and transparency in marketing.

Momentum Energy is a subsidiary of Hydro Tasmania, Australia’s largest generator of renewable energy which has been generating clean energy for more than 100 years. Momentum Energy retails electricity and gas to mainland customers.

Momentum Energy Managing Director Lisa Chiba said: “We’re delighted that Momentum’s green credentials have been recognised by Greenpeace Australia and believe the release of the Green Electricity Guide is an important and much-needed resource for consumers across the country.

“We know many Australians are keen to find a green electricity provider, but it can be difficult to navigate the options available and the information available can be confusing. Having a trusted brand like Greenpeace Australia provide an independent and well researched recommendation is helpful and timely not only for consumers but also for the renewable energy industry.

”As the mainland retailer of Hydro Tasmania, one of Australia’s oldest and largest renewable energy generators, we are proud to be recognised as a leading green electricity company in the country. Any customer joining Momentum Energy can be confident they are doing their bit to support Australia’s shift to clean renewable energy.”

Momentum Energy is a leading mid-tier energy retailer, headquartered in Melbourne and with a call centre and service team in Tasmania. It has more than 160,000 electricity customers.
