Daily charge: The cost to provide electricity to your premises (and in some cases for the metering as well).
Peak: Electricity costs the most at this time (usually on weekday evenings).
Off-peak: Electricity costs the least at this time (usually overnight and on weekends).
Shoulder: Electricity costs a bit less than peak at this time (any time between peak and off-peak periods).

Need help understanding rates?
There is a Daily Supply Charge for providing gas to your premises. Then there's the charge for the gas you use. This is usually higher in the colder months (Peak), when people use gas for heating, and lower in the warmer months (Off-peak). To understand specific peak and off peak times, see the Energy Fact Sheet below.
MJ: Megajoule (MJ) is a measure of your gas consumption
Gas Steps: we split your gas usage into separate blocks, with one rate or charge for the first block then a different rate or cost for the next block (or blocks) of your usage. This sequence creates a stepped pricing model; hence the name Gas Steps.
